Job Description
The Service Engineer (Electrical) plays a key role in ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and servicing of electrical systems. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and supporting clients to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. The Service Engineer works closely with the Service Manager and other team members to deliver reliable, timely, and high-quality service support.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Servicing
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems, including LV/HV power distribution, switchboards, panels, cabling, lighting, and ELV systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, ensuring minimal downtime and system reliability.
- Conduct testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical equipment and installations.
- Respond promptly to service calls and resolve technical issues effectively.
Site Monitoring & Reporting
- Perform site inspections to identify potential faults or hazards in electrical installations.
- Record service activities, faults, and rectifications accurately in service reports.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements or system upgrades where necessary.
- Escalate critical or recurring issues to the Service Manager for resolution.
Stakeholder & Client Support
- Liaise with clients to provide updates on service works, system condition, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients to support long-term trust and satisfaction.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and compliance reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of all service activities in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Support audits and compliance checks by providing relevant service data and reports.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback to management on recurring electrical issues and suggest preventive measures.
- Stay updated on the latest electrical technologies, standards, and servicing practices.
- Support company initiatives to improve service efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electrical servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Educational Qualifications: Diploma or NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, switchboards, cabling, lighting, and ELV systems.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and authority requirements (e.g., EMA, SS standards).
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills with the ability to engage clients, contractors, and team members professionally.
- Software Proficiency: Basic knowledge of service management tools, Microsoft Office, and ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Analytical & Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach to resolving technical issues efficiently.
